The pleasure and pain of Emily

Two attempts at the same spread. First didn't have good tonal contrast and definition, but the second one seems a little stiff in comparison. This is not an easy project.

Love both your paintings. It depends on the story line. The first one shows action and chaos. The second shows a more peaceful setting.

I really like the looseness and energy of the top one. Perhaps if the piano were a darker color and the dog a lighter one it would give the piece more of a central focus on Emily?
